Math and Music Project
With your table members, put together a google slideshow of how math is applied to music. You will send Mr. H your completed slideshow. You will NOT present the slideshow to the class. Work together! Someone has to take the initiative to get the group organized. There are so many directions you can go with this topic. Do research on youtube and google. Extra credit ( 10 test points) will be awarded to individuals that play part of a song with an instrument for the class for at least 1 minute. You can perform with others outside of your table group. Have fun! Your grade will be determined by the content of your slides and your level of productivity in the class.
Slideshow must include the following:
1. Music notes and fractions
2. The geometry of at least four instruments Ex: 2-D shapes, 3-D shapes, dimensions, etc.
3. The math of musical sounds Ex: Frequency, Trig function graphs, etc.
4. The patterns in music Ex: Scales, chords, melodies, notes on instrument, etc.
You have two days to work on the project in the class. When you think you are done, call Mr. H over and he will tell you if you are done. The project will be due the following week. EC performances will be done at the end of class for the next two weeks. Important: In this digital era privacy is a foreign concept to many. No filming or pictures will take place during a performance without the performers consent. Violation of this policy will result in phone confiscation and a 1 hour detention.
